The following message is from Mr Justice Choudhury. I am grateful to our Presiders for organising this event.
As you may be aware there is a current JAC competition to appoint Deputy High Court Judges. The Presiders on the Midland Circuit are keen to encourage more local practitioners and judges to apply or at least to think about applying, if not in this exercise, then in a future one. With that in mind, the Presiders are organising a short pre-application seminar for the Deputy High Court selection exercise.
The seminar will be held on:
Date: Thursday 9th April
Time: 5 - 6pm
Where: Microsoft Teams
You can join the meeting by clicking on the button below or copying and pasting the link below into your browser:

Please join promptly at 5pm
The seminar aims to help applicants be better prepared to make an application and to receive up-to-date guidance and advice on the JAC’s selection process. The panel will include past and present s.9(4) judges and a senior officer from the JAC. If you have ever thought about applying or you would just like to find out more about the process, then this might be of interest to you.
The proposed agenda is as follows:
17:00 – 17:05: Welcome and introduction (Mr Justice Choudhury)
17:05 – 17:10: Benjamin Douglas-Jones KC – Section 9(4) Deputy High Court Judge.
17:10 – 17:35: Richard Collumbell – Senior Appointments Team, JAC
17:35 – 17:40: Mrs Justice Stacey: Presiding Judge of Wales and former s.9(4) judge.
17:40 – 17:55: Q&A
I look forward to welcoming you at the seminar.
Mr Justice Choudhury
