'And occasionally you can be reduced to tears’ : Exploring how emotions taint the work of rape barristers

Drawing on British Academy funded research, this presentation considers the ways in which the work of barristers who prosecute and defend in rape cases is emotionally ‘tainted’. It considers the impact of clients’ burdensome emotions, feelings and behaviours on barristers themselves: impacts which can be uniquely gendered.

Speakers include

  • Mrs Justice Carr DBE
  • District Judge Fayyaz Afzal OBE - President of MALA
  • Mary Prior QC - 36 Crime

Come along and join us for an enlightening talk followed by networking, drinks and buffet
